What an incredible fall! It went by so quickly and yet when I think of all we have accomplished I am amazed. The Guild has already raised thousands of dollars thanks to the hard work and generosity of our members and friends. We started our fundraising year with a very successful Fall Fashion Show organized by Marilynn Sternberg. Chico’s and White House Black Market provided the clothes and our members were the models. Two beautiful days were the backdrop for our fantastic Halifax Art Festival, this year chaired expertly by George Fortuna. Just five days later, under the directions of CarolAnn LaRoza, we were decorating 25 Christmas Trees for the Festival of Trees and Gala. Our final event of the year was a party for members to celebrate our successes so far and contributed to area food banks and animal shelters.
How could one group of volunteers accomplish so much?? Only with a lot of hard work, fun, and love for our beautiful museum!
And now, we prepare for the magnificent Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art. We can’t wait. Andrew Sandall, Executive Director of the Museum, gave the The Board of the Guild of the MOAS a tour of the almost complete museum. "WOW!" sums up our reaction. After the tour we returned with a renewed dedication to the Guild’s Mission to support the MOAS and spread the word of our “precious jewel”.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our Casino Night and our Annual Children’s Museum Golf Classic to help us continue to break fundraising records.
I can’t wait to say “Let’s meet for lunch at the new Cici and Hyatt Brown Art Museum.”
The Members of the Guild are an incredibly dynamic group whose mission is to promote the welfare of the Museum through its many programs and activities. The Guild offers members many opportunities to use their skills by working on many projects including The Halifax Arts Festival and The Festival of Trees. They also organize informative monthly meetings, social events and field trips, which offer an opportunity to get acquainted with like minded people who have a common goal.
