Event Description

The plants and trees of Florida are valuable resources that humans have exploited since paleo times. The interaction between plants and humans have always played an important role in the prehistoric and historic record. Native Americans and pioneers have learned how to use specific species for food, medicine, agricultural, and entrepreneurial enterprises. Join Senior Curator of Education and History, James “Zach” Zacharias, at Gamble Place in Port Orange and learn how plants like Spanish moss, Cypress, long leaf pine, Yaupon Holly, and many more have impacted human history in Florida.
