The medieval walled city of Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful and fascinating cities on the entire Adriatic coast and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the many stops on this springtime tour through Croatia and Slovenia. Founded in the 7th century and located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and Central Europe, Dubrovnik became the chief shipping rival to Venice in the 15th century. Journey through the spectacular landscapes of these neighboring countries that feature mountains next to the sea, turquoise lakes, numerous waterfalls and a culture influenced by early Greek, Roman and Turkish civilizations. Walk in the footsteps of Marco Polo as you explore his island home birthplace, visit the horse farm that is home to the world-famous Lipizzaner stallions, and explore Zagred's Old City and the colorful Dolac Market. Tour the world's largest caves in all of Europe, and marvel at the Roman Palace of Diocletian, one of the most significant late-Roman historical monuments. Enjoy the scenic city of Bled at the foot of the Julian Alps, before traveling on to 'the Pearl of the Adriatic', Opatija and the Plitvic Lakes. Included in the many stops on this
eleven-day adventure is Tito's paradise home on Brijuni Island, and the island of Korcula.
