International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Event Description

Bring the whole family for a full day of activities at the Museum of Arts & Sciences as we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This event will host an inspiring group of women from various disciplines to celebrate the amazing achievements, accomplishments, and work that is being done in all areas of science. There will be guest speakers in the Lohman Planetarium, as well as presenters and demonstrations throughout the Museum.

Seating for our guest lectures is limited and is first come, first served.

Schedule: 

12pm: Live "The Sky Tonight" Show presented by Carissa Rowan, Lohman Planetarium Educator 

1pm: The Energy Stage Show presented by Nicole Messervy, MOAS Education Associate 

2pm: "Growing Healthy Plants and Communities Through Extension" presented by Dr. Bonnie Wells, Commercial Horticulture Agent, UF IFAS Extension 

3pm: "Securing Your Dream Job" presented by Kaitlyn Bridge, ERAU Aerospace Engineering Graduate Student

4pm: "A Woman 'in the snow among the Clocks and instruments": How Adrienne Rich Reimagined the Lives of Women Astronomers presented by Dr. Ashley Lear, ERAU Professor of Humanities. 

 

Organizations with Displays Include: ERAU Society of Women Engineers, ERAU Amateur Astronomy Club, Marine Discovery Center, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, VCS Student Volunteers

Free for members or with paid museum admission. Children ages 17 and under free.
