Mars Perseverance Rover Landing Celebration

Event Description

Join us in the Lohman Planetarium (seating is limited as we celebrate the landing of the next rover to land on the surface of Mars. This exciting mission will take Perseverance to an ancient dried up river delta in the Jezero Crater, where scientists will look for signs of past microbial life in the Martian soil. We will run a special show about Mars in the Lohman Planetarium about the mission and host a live landing ceremony as we tune into the NASA JPL feed for a planned 3:55pm touchdown. 

1:00pm - Planetarium Show: The Search for Life on Mars
Join us for a live show held in the Lohman Planetarium as we explore the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover mission. Using our planetarium software, we will fly you down to the long-ago, dried-up river delta, inside the Jezero crater on Mars, where this new rover will land on February 18th. In what could fundamentally change our view of the universe, we will look at how Perseverance may potentially discover ancient microbial life on the Martian surface. 

2:00pm-4:30pm - Live coverage of the Entry, Descent, and Landing of Perseverance 

Admission: Free for members, $5.00 for future members. Seating is limited and is first come, first served.
