Night Sky Viewing at Gamble Place

Date:
3/19/2021 at 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Event Description

Join the Lohman Planetarium staff as we ring in the spring equinox and host a fun star party at our Gamble Place historic houses in Port Orange.

We will be celebrating the beginning of spring as we gaze at the most prominent stars and constellations that are up at this time of the year. We still have an opportunity to see the winter stars all around Orion, the Hunter, and we will get to see the spring constellation of Leo, the Lion. With a multitude of telescopes setup, we will be looking at the Orion Nebula, Mars, the waxing crescent Moon, Pleiades star cluster, and many more celestial objects. There will be live sky tours held throughout the evening as we point to various objects with green laser pointers.

Masks will be required to be worn around the telescope viewing area and while looking through the telescopes.

Parking is limited.

Event is free. (Weather permitting)
