Pay Rate:                         $16.48

 

Position Summary 

The position of ( Full Time ) Safety & Security Enforcment Officer ( SSO) / Event Technician consists of working in a duel compacity depending on needs of the mission on the MOAS campus. When needed, and directed by the Chief Of Security you will assist the MOAS Special Events Department with event set-ups and breakdowns of tables, chairs and other items used during the events. Below are just some of the responsibilities that each role will entail.  

 

Principle Responsibilities  SSO / Event Technician

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties in this position , the employee is regularly required to interact with public.   The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and arms for extended periods of time.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. 

  • Achieve departmental goals by providing a safe a secure environment for guests, Staff , contractors and any other permitted individuals on the premises.
  • Must successfully complete orientation and training prior to working a zone alone.
  • Conduct foot patrols of entire facility as assigned.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Security, Rank staff Director of Operations or Executive Director.

  • Success in accomplishing daily activities
  • Success in appearance, Personal hygiene and uniform decorum.

Preparation and Knowledge:

Education: High School Diploma/ GED

Prefer two years of experience in  Law Enforcment /Security related field. 

Introductory knowledge and skills with two-way radio operation, surveillance camera operation, Emergency response to medical , fire , theft , vandalism  missing person , climate and disturbances.  

Additional Skills

  • Calm and professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Ability to act independently and give direction as well as receive direction from superiors.
  • Preferably knowledge of Law Enforcment / Safety & Security operations. 

Physical Demands

  • Must endure long periods of standing and walking during post or foot patrols.
  • May need to work both inside and outside, days and nights depending on the event.
  • Occasional lifting of over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move, setup and breakdown event tables, chairs and equipment.

  • MOAS is open 361 days a year. Employee is expected to work some holidays, evenings and/or weekends 
  • Ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes according to business and seasonal needs
  • The Museum is a drug free workplace. Applicants must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening prior to employment.  Random drug screenings may be conducted during the course of employment, or if management deems necessary.
