Position Summary:

The Guest Relations Associate ensures that all visitors are attended to on a timely basis and are given proper instructions to enhance their visit to the Museum. This position operates the Point of Sale system and is responsible for the safe and accurate handling of cash, credit cards and all forms of payment at front desk, gift shop and after hours museum programming. The Guest Relations Associate is expected to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends. Ability to train on Altru database software is essential to this role.  

 

Principle Responsibilities:

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

The Guest Relations Associate is primarily responsible for the operation of the Admission Desk and Gift Shop while ensuring that financial documentation is prepared and submitted on a timely basis.

  • Ensures the efficient and friendly admission of Museum visitors and vendors.

  • Assist volunteers when needed.

  • Process tickets at events and advance sales over the phone.

  • Process retail and food/beverage sales in gift shop and/or at ticketed MOAS events.

  • Process and direct all business visitors and calls to the proper staff.

  • Work with the COO and DOO to ensure the clear understanding of information at the admissions desk necessary to answer visitor questions and phone calls.

  • Close and balance Point of Sale systems daily

  • Maintain and distribute reports as assigned by the DOO.

  • Responsible for additional duties as may be assigned by the Director of Operations.

Preparation and Knowledge:

  • Education: High School Diploma/ GED

  • Minimum of two years of experience in customer service and or retail

  • Intermediate knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office 365 programs and Blackbaud Altru system (will be trained in Altu system)

Additional skills:

  • Excellent customer service

  • Must have the ability to handle competing/multiple functions.
